Introduction: Revisiting the Wreckage
For the sake of simplicity we have republished below in Figs. 1-3 some of the charts from The “Amazon Apocalypse”: Rummaging through the Retail Wreckage, Part I. Figures 1 and 2 simply show that over the last three years Amazon has outperformed the S&P500 by 261% and the Russell 2500 by 271% respectively. The charts also show that over that same time period retailers excluding Amazon have underperformed their relevant benchmarks by 17% in our S&P500 Universe and a staggering 45% in our Small & Mid Cap Universe.
